On Friday as part of being responsible developers, the firm joined hands with the Nairobi County Government and Friends Secondary School, Dandora, to give the school a facelift worth over Ksh. 10 million involving construction of four classrooms, an ablution block as well as refurbishment of the glazing in the existing classes in its first phase of engagement.

Cytonn Foundation appreciates the need to nurture the youth early enough to instil skills by providing a more conducive environment for studying. It has therefore started an initiative to collaborate with schools that need better infrastructure to improve their studying environment and the quality of education all the over the country.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony held at the school grounds, Cytonn Chief Executive Officer Edwin H. Dande said that emphasis on education is important as the opportunities accorded to every child push them further to achieving their dreams. “Training and mentorship is one of our key pillars in the Cytonn Foundation. Through these kind of projects, we offer each child a good learning environment to enable them work towards actualizing their dreams. 30 years from now, we shall look at the school and see the fruits of the project we begin today,” he added.

Speaking when he officiated the event, Nairobi County Governor Dr. Evans Kidero thanked Cytonn for partnering with NCC and Friends Secondary School on the project adding that it was motivational for the students as well as a key to improving the social infrastructure needs of the area. “We chose Friends Secondary School, Dandora because there are very few schools covering a population of over 700,000 students. We are committed to improving the quality and level of education of our people. The infrastructure needs in the area are high and can be improved by public-private partnerships such as the one we are solidifying today,” said Dr. Kidero.
