Is a swimming pool worth it'

26 December, 2024 / Articles

The scenic view of a backyard with a swimming pool is irresistible, especially in movies and shows. It portrays an element of class (and who doesn’t want to be cool!) that sends us to dreamland. When all these ideas are running in your mind, some voice of reason might pop up asking some very important questions. The most crucial one, for those who will wake up from the dream, is whether a swimming pool is really worth it.

Let us ponder about this scenario:

A swimming pool in your home is, of course, a good addition to the aesthetics of your home (if it is well designed). Your family will perhaps be excited about it too, especially the kids who are likely to feel like they are on vacation. This may as well create another avenue to entertain your friends, a pool party now and then perhaps. It is important to note that this kind of value is intangible and therefore will be hard to quantify.

The real estate value of your house may increase by a small percentage, with houses in warmer areas more likely to increase in value than those in areas with seasonal patterns. With this in mind, it is now time to peep into your pockets to measure the total cost of ownership of the pool against your pocket’s depth. Insurance and maintenance costs per month are among the factors to consider. Just think of how much of a pinch into your revenue you are willing to take.

Whether a pool is worth it all boils down to the perceived value it creates for you, both tangible and intangible. If spending some extra dollars for some class sits well with you, by all means live the dream. Otherwise, subscribe for some more shows and enjoy some professional camera work on pools.
