The first captivating feature that catches the eye of any visitor as they enter your compound is a well-landscaped garden. Like any other design discipline, landscape design must consider the aesthetic as well as functional aspects. Most of the time, people see a well-manicured lawn and remark on how good the landscaping is. True…grass is a tool of landscape design, but it is just a small aspect. There is so much more that you can use to enhance the appearance of your home and create the perfect haven for you and your family.
Landscaping can be divided into two broad categories: (i) Hardscape and (ii) Soft scape.
What we are all probably familiar with is the soft-scaping element of landscape design, which comprises live horticultural elements including grass, flowers, and shrubs. Hardscaping, on the other hand, comprises of inanimate objects like rocks and pebbles. It even extends to manmade elements such as paving. Even woodwork can fall into this category. You can contract the two elements against each other to achieve the perfect landscape design.
Excellent landscaping is not all about filling your garden with flowers and trees; it is all about creating a balance between the natural environment and your home by integrating the soft and hard components in your surroundings.
