On Thursday 15th February 2018, Cytonn Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Cytonn Investments Management Plc, which focuses on giving back to society through skill development, held a private Wealth Management Training (WMT) at the Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) located in Meru County, as part of the Foundation’s financial literacy pillar. During the training, the University staff were taken through a financial planning session with a focus on 4 key pillars; Budgeting, Debt Management, Savings, and Investments in the various asset classes.

Speaking at the event, Stephen Gitonga, Cytonn Distribution Manager, Mount Kenya Region, noted that, “the purpose of this session is to bring our products closer to our clients as we exist to deliver to our clients’ needs.” He emphasized the role financial planning plays in ensuring an individual’s well-being by stating that, “planning one’s finances gives you peace of mind, which in turn makes you a better and more productive employee.”

In the afternoon session, the participants were taken through the training, and also an introduction to Cytonn products. Daisy Muthee, Client Service Assistant, noted that, “Our products are mainly in the category of structured products, offering both liquidity and high returns, which are not available in the traditional asset classes. All our products are structured to ensure that they meet the needs of our high net-worth clients,” added Daisy.

To close the session, the participants engaged in an interactive session with the Cytonn team. One of the participants sought to know why Cytonn had decided to open an Office in Nyeri. “As Cytonn, we have set aside a total investment of Kshs 6.0 bn that will go into delivering our products to our clients in the Mt. Kenya Region,” Stephen reiterated. He went further to add that, “We are expanding our operations through venturing into education in terms of our Cytonn Education Services, which is the education affiliate of Cytonn Investments. We are looking at having a school in majority of our real estate development projects,” he added.
