Daniel began the talk by reminding participants that, due to the rising competition and picky customers, an organization must differentiate itself from competition in meaningful ways.

“You first find your own & unique strengths then you are able to compete sustainably. Find yourself then be yourself." He said.

He also emphasized three key things that set apart a business from its competition:

  1. Finding & building your own strengths, but don't make claims you can't deliver on.
  2. Performance & delivering better than what your customers expect from you.
  3. Let customers perceive your strengths in a memorable & meaningful manner.

Daniel also took the participants through a practical example of how crucial corporate identity is to an organization by using a case of British Airways, which was first facing a barrier to growth, because it was perceived as being too 'British'. He went on further to add that, it adopted a new global and multicultural identity to address the situation, pointing out that this led to further alienation of the core customers - British businesses. He thus emphasized the need for the full inclusion of all stakeholders by saying that, “The British Airways have since settled for a mix of both British and global approaches and this has since created a sense of belonging for each of their customers.”

Cytonn eHub Season 3 continues on Saturday 8th September 2018, with Madhav Bhalla, a Founding Partner of Taibjee and Bhalla law firm, taking the participants through the topic, Legal Aspects to consider in Your Business.
